Reasoning
Legislation requires employers to identify existing or potential risks to the health and safety of their employees and to reduce or control the identified risks.
Goal
This course will provide learners with the ability to meet their legislated duties in the workplace. The course will provide you with an awareness of the importance of proper lockout/tag out and will also assist in the development and implementation of a lockout/tag out program. Upon successful completion of this course a certificate, and/or wallet card where applicable, will be mailed to the student.
Standards
This course is designed to meet or exceed provincial legislation and industry best practices.
Duration and materials
The course includes four hours of theory where learners will work both independently and in groups. Learners will receive a manual that includes excerpts of the applicable legislation.
Target audience
This course is designed for supervisors, lead hands and middle management, but could be attended by anyone that would participate in the company’s lockout/tag out program development.
Specific learning
Topics include lockout/tag out definitions, legislation, lockout process and how that information should be used as part of the company’s safe work practices and procedures.
