Reasoning

The employer has more direct and immediate control over the workplace than any other group. Most organizations are unaware of their legal responsibilities when it comes to violence and harassment in the workplace.

Goal

This course will provide learners with the ability to meet their legislated duties in the workplace. Upon successful completion of this course a certificate, and/or wallet card where applicable, will be mailed to the student.

Standards

This course is designed to meet or exceed provincial legislation and industry best practices.

Duration and materials

The course includes approximately six hours of theory where learners will work both independently and in groups. Learners will receive a manual that includes excerpts of the applicable legislation.

Target audience

This course is designed for employees, supervisors, lead hands and middle to upper management. Effectiveness of this course is almost directly proportional to the number and level of upper management in the class.

Specific learning

Topics include workplace harassment, legislated rights and responsibilities and handling complaints. The course also covers violence in the workplace as well as working alone. The course will also have examples of violence and harassment policies, procedures and many other resources that companies can use when they return to the workplace after training.
